The COO is responsible for successfully managing and directing the overall global project activities, organization and its resources to achieve project results in alignment with the company’s objectives and customer’s project requirements. Being part of the management team (CEO, CFO and CTO) the jobholder candidate is the interface between clients, co-contractors, engineering and technology partners, as well as internal market operation VPs, steering groups, project sponsors and resource owners.
Besides defining and implementing strategies from a top management-level, improving operational project processes and being the highest escalation level for key project decisions, the COO´s tasks include a strong commercial focus on project financial results, from a both profitability and a cash flow-based project results standpoint. Taking the accountability of leading projects steering committees, it is one of the key responsibilities to continuously monitor the successful technical and commercial execution of globally-located, high-volume projects, as well as to identify opportunities in case of project deviations. The candidate must be legally adept too, as a strong involvement and firm handling of terms and conditions of contract management is an integral part of this role.
The successful applicant ideally holds a degree in technical and commercial education and provides a sound experience and track record of minimum of ten years of progressive experience in an international plant engineering and construction environment. A proven track record in driving complex projects with excellent results under full P&L (and cash flow) responsibility is a prerequisite.
Moreover, the candidate possesses excellent people management skills, being a collaborator and integrator in a multicultural structure with strong abilities to execute.
Entrepreneurial thinking, excellent level of communication and presentation skills are must part of the candidate’s personal attributes, as well as strong organization and problem solving skills plus the ability to maintain an overall positive project and corporate culture. Fluent German and English language skills, as well as readiness to travel are a must.
This position offers an outstanding challenge within a global acting player with a gross salary package of EUR 210k p.a.; Overpay may depend on the candidates experience and skills.
